Where does a helicopter land for Anfield?

At Liverpool John Lennon Airport, in the south of the city. Anfield itself, in the north, is surrounded by terraced streets and has no landing site we can offer. The airport has a 2,286 metre grooved runway, customs on site, an airfield open 24 hours and two business-aviation companies, with handling available around the clock on request. Prior permission and ground handling are mandatory for every visiting aircraft, and we arrange both.

Charter-A Helicopter is the helicopter charter service of Charter-A Ltd, which has arranged private flights across the UK and Europe since 2011. For helicopter charter Liverpool FC clients, the day is a flight to the airport, a car across the city and a seat before kick-off. Our Liverpool page sets out the airport facts.

Why is Aintree not an option for football?

Because the Aintree Racecourse helipad is race-day only. It operates for the three-day Grand National Festival in April, with flights held before each race, and it is not available on non-race days. The old version of this page listed Aintree as a site 2.96 miles from Anfield, which is true on the map but misleading for football fixtures. For horse racing, see Aintree Grand National by helicopter.

The old page also named the Albert Dock about 2.5 miles away, the Bowler Hat Hotel in Birkenhead, Leasowe Castle Hotel and Ince Airstrip. Those are private or unlicensed-for-our-use sites. Any landing is subject to landing permission and site suitability, and we do not promise one.

How much time does the helicopter save?

The further you travel, the more it saves. London to Liverpool takes about 65 to 85 minutes by helicopter and around 4 hours 15 minutes by road, which turns a 4-hour drive into a morning flight and a hospitality lunch; see London to Liverpool by helicopter. Birmingham to Liverpool is about 35 to 40 minutes against around 2 hours 7 minutes; see Liverpool to Birmingham. From Manchester Heliport at Barton it is about 15 to 20 minutes against around 40 minutes by road; see helicopter charter Manchester.

Those are times to the airport; the car across Liverpool on a match day adds time we plan for. Arrive 10 minutes before take-off, give us a weight for each passenger and use soft bags. Fixture dates are set by the league and broadcasters, so check the club for dates.

What does a Liverpool hospitality day look like?

Typically, you leave the south late morning, land at the airport around midday, lunch in the city and reach the ground early. After the game, the road out of the area is slow, so we build in a meal or a delay before departure. The airfield's 24-hour status removes the closing-time worry that small airfields bring.

For the car, we use Executive Global Travel. Neighbouring pages: Manchester United, Manchester City, north west England, football by helicopter and corporate days out. The price guides explain what shapes a figure.
