The short answer

Brocket Hall's official visitor guide says helicopters can land on the front lawn by prior arrangement with the estate. We handle the request, the flight plan and the weights, and landing is subject to landing permission and site suitability. If a landing is not agreed, Elstree or Luton and a short car transfer serve as the fallback.

Can a helicopter land at Brocket Hall?

Yes, by prior arrangement with the estate. Brocket Hall's own plan-your-visit page says helicopters may be landed on the front lawn, and that landing coordinates are provided by reception once a request is made. You can read the estate's wording on its plan your visit page. We never assume the answer, so we make the request first and quote after it, and we treat every landing as subject to landing permission and site suitability.

Charter-A Helicopter is the helicopter charter service of Charter-A Ltd, which has arranged private flights across the UK and Europe since 2011. For helicopter hire Brocket Hall clients, we pass the estate your date, party size and helicopter type, because the size and weight of the aircraft decide whether the lawn is suitable. The guide to UK landing sites explains how private land works.

How long does it take to get there?

The previous version of this page said that from London, Redhill or Biggin Hill the flight takes around 20 minutes, and from Bournemouth around 45 minutes. Those are fair rules of thumb, and we confirm the figure for your landing point and helicopter type at quote stage. For firm numbers, the library gives these: Elstree to Birmingham about 35 to 45 minutes by helicopter and around 1 hour 55 minutes by road; Luton to Oxford about 20 to 25 minutes and around 1 hour 30 minutes by road.

Welwyn is on the main rail line from King's Cross and the A1(M), so the road alternative is real, which is why the helicopter earns its place on timetable, not on distance. It suits a director who must be at Brocket Hall for a morning meeting and in the Midlands by lunchtime. See London and the Home Counties.

What are the fallback airfields if the lawn is not available?

London Elstree Aerodrome, a helicopter and light-aircraft field with prior permission and licensed hours of 09:00 to 20:00 or sunset, is the natural second choice; see helicopter charter Elstree. London Luton Airport is 13.2 nautical miles from Elstree and open 24 hours, but every flight needs a slot and a nominated handling agent, which we book with the flight; see Luton.

From either, a chauffeur car covers the last stretch. We use Executive Global Travel for road transfers. If the weather turns, the plan changes with it: if the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing.

What corporate day suits Brocket Hall?

Brocket Hall is run as an estate for events and golf, so the usual requests are a client day, a board away day, a leadership meeting or a golf day. Check with the estate for what is on offer, because we only arrange the flight. For golf-led days see golf by helicopter, and for a meal-led day see dining by helicopter.

Arrive 10 minutes before departure, give us a weight for every passenger and pack in soft bags. For another Hertfordshire estate, see The Grove. For other venue pages, see corporate days out. For price guidance, the price guides explain what drives a figure.
