How does the Silverstone heliport work?
Helicopter charter to Silverstone is the most heavily subscribed event booking in the UK, and the one that most rewards early planning.
Silverstone's heliport operates for all circuit events, including the Formula 1 British Grand Prix. It is a grass helipad, used in daylight only. On Grand Prix weekend it is the busiest event heliport in Europe, handling more than 6,000 passengers on more than 1,500 flights. Landings are by pre-booked slot, and we request yours with your booking.
After landing, passengers are transferred from the heliport terminal straight to their hospitality or grandstand, by car or escort. After the race, cars take you back to the heliport. Landing is subject to landing permission and site suitability, and the slot you hold sets your arrival and departure window.
The circuit's own travel pages mention a helicopter transfer service run through a partner. We arrange the slot and the aircraft; the circuit organises the site.

Helicopter figures are typical block times: distance at 135 knots plus 8 minutes, shown as a range. Road figures are free-flowing road times, a floor that real journeys rarely beat. Distances are in a straight line. Figures from our UK route data, checked 29 Sep 2026.
Why book a twin-engine helicopter?
On Grand Prix weekend, recent practice at Silverstone has been to use twin-engine helicopters only, which narrows the choice of aircraft across the UK. We confirm the current rule when we quote. Our Leonardo AW139, Agusta 109 Grand and Airbus H145 D3 are all twins.
That shortage is why clients book at least six months ahead. Slots go early, and the larger helicopters run out first. Ask us as soon as your hospitality is confirmed, and before you commit your guests to a time.
The guide to twin-engine helicopters on the Battersea site explains what that means in practice.

MotoGP and other Silverstone events
Silverstone also hosts the British round of the MotoGP world championship. Silverstone announced that the 2027 MotoGP calendar keeps its August slot there, so check the circuit for the exact dates. The heliport operates for all Silverstone events, and event-day slots apply to each.
The same lessons apply to every event. Book early, send passenger weights, and use soft bags. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing. A fixed return slot after the final race lets you avoid the post-race queue.
