The short answer

Helicopter charter to a race circuit lets you reach the track without the queue. Silverstone and Goodwood run controlled landing arrangements, so slots are booked in advance and subject to landing permission. At other circuits we confirm trackside or nearby landing for your date, and use an airfield and a car if needed.

Which circuit suits your day?

Race circuits by helicopter are most useful on the big weekends, when the roads around the track stop moving.

Choose by the event and the audience. Silverstone is the biggest single day for helicopter movements in Britain; Goodwood is an intimate, controlled affair; the others are club and championship days where a trackside landing is possible but must be confirmed.

Silverstone

The home of the British Grand Prix sits on a Second World War airfield between Silverstone and Whittlebury in Northamptonshire. The circuit has an on-site heliport and, on Grand Prix weekend, passengers are met and driven to their hospitality or grandstand. The 2027 race is on the provisional calendar for Friday 2 to Sunday 4 July. See helicopter charter to Silverstone.

Goodwood

The Goodwood Motor Circuit hosts the Festival of Speed, the Revival and Members' Meeting. Helicopters land at the aerodrome and are driven to the event, with the transfer included in the event landing fee. The Festival of Speed is on 15 to 18 July 2027. See helicopter charter to the Festival of Speed.

Brands Hatch

The Kent circuit at West Kingsdown hosted the British Grand Prix from 1964 to 1986 and now stages British and international racing, including superbike weekends. Our clients have used it with a trackside landing arranged in advance. If the weather turns, Biggin Hill Airport is a sensible alternative, as the Biggin Hill page explains.

Donington Park, Thruxton, Oulton Park and Anglesey

Donington Park in Leicestershire is best known for the FIM Superbike World Championship. Thruxton in Hampshire is the home of the British Automobile Racing Club and hosts British Touring Cars and Formula 3 racing. Oulton Park in Cheshire is a 320-acre parkland track used from April to October. Anglesey Circuit overlooks the Irish Sea and Snowdonia and is one of the most scenic tracks in Britain. Landing arrangements at each depend on the date and the event organiser, so we confirm them with you before you book.

A typical race weekend timeline

On a big motorsport weekend the airspace is busy and the slots are strict, so the day runs to the clock.

  1. Breakfast departure: arrive at the departure site 10 minutes before your slot. From central London that is Battersea; many teams also start from Oxford, Birmingham or Cambridge.
  2. Flight: from central London Silverstone is typically 25 to 35 minutes, against about 1 hour 50 minutes by road in free-flowing traffic.
  3. Arrival: a pre-booked slot, then a car or escort to hospitality, the paddock or a grandstand.
  4. The racing: the helicopter waits or repositions as the site allows.
  5. After the chequered flag: a booked return slot. We build in time for the post-race crowd rather than racing it.

For drivers and teams the same logic applies on test days. We have flown drivers testing cars and bikes, mechanics who needed to reach a circuit quickly, and team owners. Our same-day business trips page describes how a short-notice flight is arranged.

Other circuits and races

Three more motorsport pages are worth reading: Brands Hatch in Kent, Donington Park in Leicestershire and the Isle of Man TT, where a fortnight of racing changes how people reach the island.

Booking and planning for motorsport

Book early for Grand Prix weekend. Silverstone's landing slots sell out, and the number of aircraft that can use the site is limited. In recent years the site has favoured twin-engine helicopters on Grand Prix weekend, which also reduces the choice of aircraft available across the UK. We confirm the current rule when we quote.

If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing. The helicopter fleet pages explain the aircraft we use. A party of up to eight can ride in one AW139; larger groups go in several helicopters. Everyone's weight is needed at booking and bags should be soft.

For ground transport at the circuit end and back to your hotel, our chauffeur partner can meet you. For price guidance see the helicopter hire price guides and ask for a quote on your date. Return to the events hub for the full 2027 calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Can a helicopter land at Silverstone?

Yes. Silverstone has an on-site heliport used on event days, including the British Grand Prix. Landings are by pre-booked slot and subject to landing permission, so ask us as soon as your plans are set.

Can I fly to Goodwood Motor Circuit by helicopter?

Helicopters land at Goodwood aerodrome and are driven to the event. Event slots are allocated strictly, and for some events, such as the Revival, arrivals are helicopter only.

Can I charter a helicopter to a test day or track day?

Often, yes. We have flown drivers and mechanics to circuits for test days. Landing at a circuit on a non-event day depends on the owner's permission and site suitability, which we confirm before booking.

How early should I book for the British Grand Prix?

As early as you can. Grand Prix slots sell out early and the choice of aircraft shrinks. The weekend is the busiest for helicopter movements anywhere in Britain.

Can drivers and teams be flown between races?

Yes. We arrange team and driver transfers between factories, circuits and airports. Describe the schedule and we propose the aircraft and landing points.

Which airfield is the fallback if a circuit landing is not possible?

It depends on the circuit. For Brands Hatch the usual alternative is Biggin Hill. For Silverstone we can use nearby airfields such as Oxford or Cranfield, with a car for the last stretch.
