Glasgow Airport and Cumbernauld compared
For helicopter charter Glasgow, use Glasgow Airport when you want a 24-hour site with customs and de-icing and a jet or an airliner to connect with. Use Cumbernauld when you want a smaller airfield between the two cities. Glasgow Airport has a 2,661 m runway, and all flights, including general aviation, need prior approval from the airport and notification for slot coordination, with a handling agent mandatory for every flight. Helicopters use the apron and landing area on the general aviation side. Aircraft may not park for more than 24 hours without approval.
Cumbernauld has an 819 m runway and is for turboprops and helicopters, not jets. Published hours are 09:00 to 17:00 every day, with out-of-hours by arrangement, and prior permission is mandatory. Customs is by arrangement. Aircraft can descend on instruments at Glasgow or Edinburgh and continue visually. It is about 20 nautical miles from Edinburgh Airport, so a Cumbernauld start works well for the east. Hours were checked on 29 September 2026; we confirm them again with the quote.

Why people charter from Glasgow
Football is a big reason. Hampden Park, Ibrox and Celtic Park draw large crowds, and hospitality groups often fly between cities for a fixture; see football by helicopter. Landing at a stadium is subject to landing permission and site suitability and is rarely available on match days, so we usually land at the airport and arrange a car for the last stage.
Business uses the helicopter to link Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen in a single day; our same-day business trips page explains how. The west has golf and estates as well, from Loch Lomond to the Ayrshire coast. Check shooting by helicopter for estate days, and the Scotland region page for the whole country.
