Helicopter charter Penzance: the heliport at Long Rock
Penzance Heliport sits on the shore of Mount's Bay at Long Rock, with a terminal café, a large car park with electric vehicle charging and a station shuttle. It is the mainland gateway to the Isles of Scilly, and the scheduled flights to Tresco and St Mary's take about 15 minutes. Charter and visiting helicopters, out-of-hours flights and hangarage are strictly by prior arrangement.
The heliport runs Monday to Saturday, 08:00 to 17:00 (07:30 to 18:30 in summer) and is closed on Sundays. It is a daylight, visual flight rules site. There are no customs facilities, so an international arrival has to clear elsewhere first.

Helicopter figures are typical block times: distance at 135 knots plus 8 minutes, shown as a range. Road figures are free-flowing road times, a floor that real journeys rarely beat. Distances are in a straight line. Figures from our UK route data, checked 29 Sep 2026.
Land's End Airport as the alternative
Land's End Airport at St Just, 6 nautical miles from Penzance, has a 784 metre asphalt runway and a shorter cross runway. It is a turboprop, Islander and helicopter field, not a jet airport. In summer it opens 07:00 to 18:30 Monday to Saturday; in winter it closes at 17:30 on weekdays and 12:15 on Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays. Visiting aircraft need prior permission by phone or online form, and scheduled traffic to the islands has refuelling priority. Customs is by arrangement.
Newquay, to the east, takes jets: see our Newquay page.

Who charters in West Cornwall
West Cornwall has hotels, estates and businesses from Penzance to St Ives and the Lizard. Corporate hosts bring clients to hospitality events, and owners and senior staff travel for time-critical meetings in Bristol, Cardiff or London. Hospitality-sector owners often need to reach the mainland, and the road west of Exeter is a long way round.
The nearest mainland big-city pages are Exeter, Bristol and Cardiff, while the islands are covered on our Isles of Scilly page.
How a Penzance booking works
Tell us the date, passengers, weights and destination. Because of the Sunday closure and daylight-only rule, we also ask for your latest acceptable return time. We confirm permission with the heliport or airport and the aircraft that suits the distance, and send one quote. Arrive 10 minutes before departure; use soft bags where the hold is small. Landing at a house, hotel or estate is subject to landing permission and site suitability. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing.
