The short answer

Wembley Stadium has no helicopter landing site, so we fly you to a licensed airfield or heliport in northwest London, with RAF Northolt, Elstree, Denham and Battersea the main options, and a chauffeur car takes you the last stretch. It suits clients arriving from far away who want to miss the event-day rail and road crush.

Can a helicopter land at Wembley Stadium?

Not at the stadium. Wembley sits in a built-up part of northwest London with the arch, the arena and tens of thousands of people around it on event day, and there is no helicopter landing site we can offer you. Anyone who tells you they can drop you on the concourse is promising something the airspace, the stadium company and the landowner would have to agree, and none of them has to.

For helicopter charter Wembley bookings, what works is the flight to a nearby licensed site and a car for the last stretch. Charter-A Helicopter is the helicopter charter service of Charter-A Ltd, which has arranged private flights across the UK and Europe since 2011, and we build Wembley days around the site, not the stadium. Our guide to UK landing sites explains why licensed sites matter.

Which airfields serve Wembley best?

RAF Northolt is the closest of the larger sites. It is an active military station that takes civil flights by prior permission, with published civil hours of 08:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 17:00 at weekends and bank holidays. That weekend window is important: a Saturday evening kick-off can fall outside it, and a booking is cleared with the station the day before. See helicopter charter Northolt.

Denham Aerodrome in Buckinghamshire is 4.1 nautical miles from Northolt and open 08:00 to 20:00 local in summer and 08:00 to 18:00 in winter, with prior permission required; see Denham. Elstree, 7.1 nautical miles from Northolt, has licensed hours of 09:00 to 20:00 or sunset; see Elstree. Heathrow is possible only where slots and permissions are secured, and it is slot-constrained, so it is a rare choice; the page for Heathrow explains why.

If your party starts in central London, the London Heliport at Battersea is 10.2 nautical miles from Northolt. Battersea Helicopter has a guide to flying from the London Heliport.

What kinds of Wembley day can you plan?

Wembley hosts England internationals, domestic finals and play-offs, and large concerts. For corporate clients, the draw is the same each time: guests in a suite, a hospitality lunch and a timetable that works. A helicopter is not the best answer for a short hop across London. It is the best answer when guests are coming from Birmingham, Manchester or further, because the flight from Birmingham to London takes about 40 to 50 minutes by helicopter against around 2 hours 25 minutes by road, and the road is worst on event day.

The return leg is the one that needs thought. Concerts and evening matches finish late, and the sites above have published hours. We will often hold the aircraft at a site open late or fly the party home the next morning. Please check the organiser for dates; we never guess them. For a large party, we split across two helicopters. See our fleet and business helicopter charter.

What do you need to know before booking?

Give us the event, the party size and a weight for each passenger, plus where you start. We confirm the site hours and the landing permission, then fix the car. Arrive 10 minutes before departure and pack soft bags.

Road legs on event day are slow, so we allow extra time. We use Executive Global Travel for chauffeurs in London. If you want to compare, the price guides show what shapes a figure. For other grounds see football by helicopter, and for rugby try Twickenham. The full list sits in corporate days out.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a helipad at Wembley Stadium?

No landing site at the stadium is available to us. We use licensed sites nearby such as Northolt, Denham or Elstree and arrange a car.

Which airfield is nearest to Wembley?

RAF Northolt is the closest of the larger sites we use, but it needs prior permission and has set civil hours. Denham and Elstree are good alternatives.

Can we fly out after an evening event?

Sometimes. Northolt closes to civil flights at 20:00 on weekdays and 17:00 at weekends, so we may use another site or an overnight stay.

How long from Birmingham?

About 40 to 50 minutes to London by helicopter against around 2 hours 25 minutes by road, before the transfer to the stadium.

Do you sell tickets or hospitality?

No. We arrange the flight and ground transfer. Hospitality is booked with the organiser or a provider.

What if the weather stops the flight?

If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing.
